Yesterday I got a wrong message while testing MS Windows 2008 Server network interface, Boinc Development Version 5.10.43 and ADSL routing devices by uploading some Linux-DVD-Images with µTorrent:
29.02.2008 21:27:11|World Community Grid|Message from server: No work could be sent. 29.02.2008 21:27:11|World Community Grid|Message from server: Your computer reports a bandwidth of 22.3 kbps; AfricanClimate@Home requires 63.5 kbps. 29.02.2008 21:27:11|World Community Grid|Message from server: (there was work but it was committed to other platforms) I never worked for AfricanClimate, only DDDT was marked in WCG menue at that time. Now I switched off Boinc network access. Chris |

You probably have the alternate work option selected. This will try to send you work even if there is temporarily none available for your selected projects.

No. After getting many Human Proteome Folding Workunits last week because of bottlenecks at DDDT, I changed it.

Then feel free to ignore the message. I will point out to the techs that an irrelevant message is being sent when no work can be sent and ACH isn't selected.

I've had that message too D - on WCG Boinc 5.10.30 when ACH isn't selected - with exactly the same kbps numbers.......although I'm pretty sure my bandwidth is way higher than 22.3 kbps.
I just ignored it anyway. |

This morning I have had the same messages as mentioned above, plus the following one as a bonus:
----------------------------------------02-Mar-2008 08:33:05 [World Community Grid] Message from server: (won't finish in time) Computer on 99.4% of time, BOINC on 99.9% of that, this project gets 100.0% of that I don't know if it was referring to an hypothetic AC@H job (not selected on this machine anyway) or to the job being processed, but it was irrelevant in both cases, of course. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at Mar 2, 2008 11:56:03 AM] |

I've spent the last week updating our server code to the latest BOINC code. Part of that involved re-writing the messages sent to the user (the BOINC code doesn't account for multiple projects). The messages should be cleaner when we release this code. We are currently testing it in development.

Actually the BOINC cleaned up that message in the server code that I am about to put onto the servers will give a cleaner message for that one also. |
