Of course what this has got me thinking is - if the 6700k is so much faster than my older 6cores I wonder what the 6950k is like with 10cores/20 threads    Paul_D, great info on your last post! I spent some time looking at this website here: https://www.tacc.utexas.edu/ Stampede Cutting-edge HPC, Visualization, Data Analysis, and Data-Intensive Computing Stampede is one of the most powerful and significant current supercomputers in the U.S. for open science research. Able to perform nearly 10 quadrillion operations per second, Stampede offers infinite opportunities for computational science and technology— ranging from highly parallel algorithms, high-throughput computing, scalable visualization, and next generation programming languages. I had to cut that message short because it is alot of info! Now, Stampeded 2 is either running or getting closer to 'run'. I'm not sure. Stampede (1) is currently running here at the WCG Grid. Wow, the stats caused a roar the last several days. The specs on their various systems (found on their websire above) is just outrageous! I wanted to post a 3D pic of a Supercell storm cloud but it was too large to post here. Check out the cool graphics there as well. Wow!!!! I have had my 'tech gear fix' for the day! And yes, our Team had a great day of crunching!!
