Good Morning fellow Team-Mates,
----------------------------------------I wish you a very good and relaxing Sunday. Myself has to work on this Sunday, but that's ok. This happens only three times a year. I've switched all my ressources back to wcg again. For those who might be interested in boinc independend from wcg I would like to give you a brief summarization about my activities from the last two weeks. This year team Seti Germany organized the 7th so called Pentathlon. The Pentathlon runs 14 days and there are 5 different disciplines (different boinc projects): There is the marathon that runs the whole 14 days. The city run that starts one day after marathon started for a 5 day period. The cross country run starts three days after city run started for a 5 day period. Swimming starts when the city run has ended, but overlaps with cross country run, for a period of 7 days. Sprint starts three days after swimming has started, for a 3 day period. All in all you have up to three overlapping projects running. This requires a lot of team communication and planning on which ressources for how long on which project. Each project has its ranking and points the team gets for its ranking. These points are summed up to an overall ranking. But now the pentathlon is over the projects that where chosen for this event achieved a huge boost and the participating teams had a lot of fun. |

For those who might be interested in boinc independend from wcg I would like to give you a brief summarization about my activities from the last two weeks. This year team Seti Germany organized the 7th so called Pentathlon. The Pentathlon runs 14 days and there are 5 different disciplines (different boinc projects): . Eric, we have entered Seti Germany's Pentahalon Challenges before and even now. Ther had a great Badge app and their Captain has always been gracious to us. We do know about other Boinc challenges and as a matter of fact, that is a reason why some Teams now are either not crunching anymore or who have going on "base-camping". Just ask WildWilber. He has posted that he joined us because he was one of the few who stayed here at WCG. His Team Mates either 'base-camped' or even joined other Teams. Basecamping is a great idea, but I really like the reasons for joining a Team that has kept together and not 'guest crunched' for mostly their own. Can you imagine being on a Team that lost 80-90% of their Team Mates? Maybe WildWilber could awnser this better than me. Currently, our Team is ranked #42 at the WCG. And I am glad that we have come this far and I hope that we can keep it up. And I hope that you will be a Team Mate as well.  BTW, like almost everywhere here in the USA is going through a major heatwave and I actually turned off my PC two nights ago. If it continues, I will turn it off tonight. Expecting to see over 100° F (40 C°), and the bad thing, it gets hotter each passing hour until 9 or 10pm.   Strange to see that Miami, Florida is ten degrees cooler than us in Colorado. JC, sure I can imagine when a team dissipates for those reasons.
----------------------------------------In my case WCG is the project where my heart belongs to. WCG is the reason why I've rented seven servers and I will continue to do so as long as I can afford them. But besides of these servers I have three more computers and some androids here at home only for WCG - ok some nci-projects like wuprop are running too. The team I've started here at WCG is still active and that was the team I have supported in the last pentathlon. They brought me back into the game of crunching. The community in this team is still active - but outside of the WCG-forum. This team originates from a kind of a non profit organization that has the goal to "...foster education, research and science through utilization of interconnected computers". As you can see in my team history I've joined a couple of teams here and there, but I've arrived at my wcg-home: Team Andrax. I love our great team and to be part of it. As you can see in my team history I've joined a couple of teams here and there, but I've arrived at my wcg-home: Team Andrax. I love our great team and to be part of it. I see no reason why I should change it now or in the future. The only exception might be these 14 days during the pentathlon. Great to hear that, Eric! Hope that other crunchers that want to join a Team will see this! Free-DC not updated as of this late moment. No big deal. We have Team Mates moving up the WCG overall stats. anhhai is now #39 in Points Generated at the WCG and RaymondFO is #150 in Results Returned. Also, WildWilber has exceeded 125 Years of Total Run Time!! And you Eric, have surpassed 170 Million Points! And just look how erveryone has also surpassed major milestones. ALL OF US!
