My numbers will be down the next several days as I have to replace a failing hard drive in one of my more powerful computers.

So sad, was expecting a sapphire beta badge today. Where, oh where did the betas go? ![]() anhhai, I have not gotten any Betas. Now I am thinking it may be too late (not sure) to get a Badge there. I am planning to get Sapphire in FAH soon and also HCC not long after that. I'm just running FAH for now and plan to jump on those HCC work units immediately after the FAH Badge goes to Sapphire. Does that strategy deem ok? Or should I run both FAH and HCC work units now? ![]() Ray, stuff happens and I know how you feel. When I first got my i7 860, that huge Zalman fell off during shipping (UPS, geez). popeyecu replaced the Zalman with the XIGMATEK Intel Core i7 compatible Dark Knight. JC, I can't tell exactly how many hours of runtime you do a day, but assuming you do 5 CPU day per real day(it is about your average overall) and I don't know what your definition of soon is. But I suggest you do HCC first because you need about 70 days to get a sapphire, and there is yes then 100 days left on that project. But you can easily do the math. If the number of days it takes you to complete both FAH and HCC is yes then 100 (with a decent margin) then just do both until FAH is done.
----------------------------------------Also, the re-run of the betas haven't started yet. They are probably fixing the problems with the 1st round. When they started releasing beta CEP2, their new server basically died (no more downloads for betas were working), so they need to fix whatever the cause was before they restart it. I and others thought it was something easy, guess not. edit: Sekerob says the end date is estimated at early Sept, so that means less then 90 days left. I estimate mid sept, so 100. Be on the safe side and say 90 ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by anhhai at Jul 7, 2011 2:49:49 PM] |

if that is the case, just crunch both until you get your sapphire FAH, then crunch HCC. How are you trying to get betas? I just have the beta box checked, then if I see betas are starting, I up my cache, so that my boxes can get its full of WU (1 WU per beta project per core/thread). My non-beta cache is currently not too big (1 day or less now), since this beta run is so big and the deadline they are giving are so small. When the beta starts, I will increase it to 2 days, and have it only try to get betas.
----------------------------------------Also make sure your profile makes it so it runs beta WU first (set switch time high, like 7000 -- this makes WU with short deadlines execute first). ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by anhhai at Jul 7, 2011 3:56:16 PM] |

I think that the chance of getting a Beta Badge due to little info may be out of the equation (not sure but I have been reading confusing posts in the Beta forum.). Besides, I do want two more Sapphires. So I will follow your suggestion of running the FAH work units first and then switch to HCC after FAH goes Sapphire. BTW, 7,000 what? Checked device manager and I could not figure that out. Is it like 0.01 days? Not sure. lat me know if I got it right (both replies). ![]() |

at the every bottom it says: "Switch between applications every"
----------------------------------------change the default 60 value to 7000. This works even if you only run WCG for CPUs (like myself). ![]() |

oh, I think you should be able to get a beta bronze badge sometime this yr with little problems. Last week when they did the beta for 3.5 (CEP2 got a partial release) projects, I got enough WUs for over a day of crunching with very little effort due to the size of this beta. When they restart it, it will be almost twice as big.
----------------------------------------Plus, they plan on 3 new projects this yr and they will have to do a beta for HFCC on the new server too. ![]() |
