SID problem

Hi,
I am trying to setup the computer grid software and there is an error message that says that the program was unable to locate the SID.
I have tried to search on the forum for a solution but can't seem to find one so if there is anybody that can help it would be appreciated.
thanks,
kasper

Re: SID problem

Can you please go to the message log, select the offending messages and copy (button left margin of BOINCmgr) and post them here. The exact lines allow us to more effectively research.

Re: SID problem

Was it error 1609 when you tried to install BOINC?

The message may have been something like "Unable to locate the user's SID, system error [3]"

Did you chose the service option during the install?

Re: SID problem

My first guess is that you used the wrong username when setting BOINC up as a service. Note that the name BOINC fills in for you may not be correct, and it must be fully specified. The user also needs sufficient permissions to run BOINC as a service. For best results, I set up a dedicated account for BOINC to use.

If this all goes over your head, just use the single user option instead.
