Not sure how it can be used to increase the BOINC credit, unless you actually crunch on the projects.

All other projects now follow the 1 email, 1 CPID, 1 account principle. and it is high time WCG accepted this. Agreed that WCG is older than BOINC, but if WCG has shifted to BOINC due to BOINC's greater efficiency and/or reach then it should also accept the established BOINC standards.

If each project has its own legacy set of quirky rules and exceptions, then it prevents emergence of uniform standards and harms the long-term spread and acceptance of distributed computing.

Since no established BOINC principled project allowed multiple accounts with the same email address there could never be duplicate CPID's, so your logic is flawed first off. Second, there's never been anywhere account merge facilitation, maybe once or twice with admin involvement, but not here. Hosts can be merged if the system determines they are really the same device. One day we may have this facility here.
