...also it is NOT WCG's fault, it is BOINC which is not anWCG program but is widely used by millions of others. If you have an issue do not moan at WCG moan at BOINC on their web site...

World Community Grid contribute to BOINC. It's open source, so problems can be fixed.
Moaning here might not be the most effective way of changing things, but there are people (like me) who listen and try to effect change in BOINC both directly and indirectly. |

To complete how a 'standard' BOINC project reflects the Power Saving option in their preferences:
----------------------------------------Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last X Minutes (Needed to enter low-power mode on some computers) Leaves little doubt that BOINC only controls itself and by going to sleep permits the operating system and hardware to act as per the owners specifications.

I think it would be a great idea for an admin to sticky this thread, as I have had the same problem. I feel as though many people have the same problem and would come to the forums here to figure it out, considering that the community here seems to be generally tech-savvy. I was also about to stop using WCG/BIONIC because my computer would not automatically go into S3 standby mode, but then just decided to manually put my computer into standby when I wasn't using it. I feel as though this answers a big general question that people come to this forum to answer. I have just implemented the suggestions made in this thread, and hopefully as soon as my computer communciates with the server all will go well and my S3 standby will kick in after 10 mins of my computer being idle.
Thanks in advance. |
