Yes, I talked to the building owner today about renovations. There were a few problems on move in, but I wanted to get a better feel for the building. Having this hot spell has helped me get a better feel quite literally. So I brought up basically what you said, but they wont let me touch a load-baring wall.
----------------------------------------The answer I suggested was a vent from the floor to ceiling in the closet and install a roof hat or vent at he peak of the roof to let the heat escape. Not just for the machines, I didn’t bring it up at all. Just so when the roof is 200f, the rooms below don’t try to follow suit. As the eve vents are the only way out for the heat and they are too low to help much. He liked it. Will he do anything........ I'll find out in the next few days..... It's ok... I took my med's.... I feel fine... just fine... fine... ah fine.. yes fine.............. eating, drinking, sleeping and thinking I’m a work unit. Its ok, its been over a month of this now, I’m getting use to it. I just have this overwhelming desire to manically laugh in a highly uncontrollable way, but the med's are kicking in. I’m fine, really, im just fine. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

OK, if it's a single story, a floor vent to the crawl space for cool air and a roof vent for the hot air might do the trick. :::::Ups Courine's meds:::: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well yes, but the answer isn’t the problem. The problem is will they let me answer it. It is like every landlord has the notion that the renter is going to destroy the building if they release any control on modifications.
----------------------------------------Normally, in the past, landlords loved it when you are so concerned about the welfare of the building. Now I have to wait again for them to figure out I'm really on their side. Because I have to live here and the effects of poor air handling both in the ceiling and the interior heating would be easily offset by the power bill decrease, even if we as renters do it. I just need then to admit that it would be seen, in writing, as addition. Otherwise, I will be charged to return the original condition of the closet if I need to move. If fact, its breach of contract for doing it without any approval anyway. So I would be almost asking to kiss my sweet deposit goodbye. It's ok, I'm getting quite use to this.... eat, drink, sleep and think I'm a work unit.... while psychotically sitting in a mountain of boxes. Taking my med's so not to notice the insanity. Now, if im good and i mean very good, I may get my life back up shortly. Just until then, i have only half the systems up that i normally run. And since you know how I am about the sound of victory, i mean i mean, cpu fans; then you can understand my grief in so many of my personal best are not on the front lines. Now, tomorrow I find out if I have a chance to turn them on with the door open for testing. Since the monitor is outside the closet, I can track the temp of the systems with the door shut, as the hot weather clearing. But the heat the closet traps on a hot day is incredible. Not because of no vent, but due to the wall being heated by the sun for so long during the hottest part of the day. And on 2 sides, right next to the driveway blacktop. Well, do I start manically laughing now, or would it be wise to wait for the med's to wear off first. The way things are, I could blow a fuse if i really let go. So I think I will just sit here, in the boxes, eat, sleep, drink and staying focused on that im a work unit. Because the other things that have happened recently are far more insane than I. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Courine, if you're good with your hands, you could consider water cooling. I think it could be an efficient way to transport 'your heat' outside of the closet (though I have no experience with that).
But no, this can not be an option as you like the sound of the fans ... |

But no, this can not be an option as you like the sound of the fans ... she could always get a noisy pump...LOL Oh, I still have the geothermal heat exchanger. It would do the job, but the hoses for it would have to go through a load-baring wall. What I will have to do is try to modify the closet so it doesn’t look modified. But there are other heating problems that need to be addressed that I can fix in a single blow, if I can put just a fan in the top of the closet. As the roof is most exposed to the sun there for the longest period during hot days. This will push the air to any exit, and away from that spot. See, its just that the heat builds up there anyway, far more than I’ve ever seen, that the machine cant stay on even on a normal day. On a scorcher, you could bake bread in there with no machines heating it. This is because the asphalt on the driveway surrounds the walls outside the closet and gets hotter than the roof, heating the walls as well. Im getting an oven thermometer so I can see how hot it is for the next heat wave, but until I get something going, I can use those systems. Oh I could put them where I am now, in front. But if I ever, I mean ever want any from Jo again, not to mention my personal safety, I should refrain. Its just been such a horrible move. The place is great, and the people are at least professional. Its just its taking FOREVER to get anything done. It's like pulling teeth just to get the main Ethernet cable in so I could start moving the sorted MESSES I’ve been living in to where they need to be. I'm getting a complex about being SO disheveled that I’ve been keeping a shovel next to my desk just in case I need to dig out. Now that the process of moving the rest of the stuff to its final position, it has been less needed though. I have a 10x8’ shed and a 100" projection screen system to put in this weekend. What you want to bet I run into some new and special insanity. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Jo just looked over at me with that "is there a number I should call?" stare. With the words "Livingston I presume?". She said that because of the safari she had to take, just to wake me up this morning. She also remarked that 2 sherpa's were lost while traversing from the Dresser Peaks to the Nightstand Plateau. The passage over Mt. Boxes to the Headboard Range, then final into Bed Valley; was also filled with peril, but she had reported also that all had made it safely. Then she included the next remark: "WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX YOUR ROOM!"

Just noticed... any one here a Mechwarrior / Battletech enthusiast? :) Our captain certainly is. I’m game addict, but not for MW, not games at least, maybe because I'm very sceptical about bipedal fighting machines, but I really liked trilogy about Aidan Pryde of Clan Jade Falcon. Right now I’m high on “Fallout 3”, before that were both S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, “the Witcher”, "Fable"; “Warhammer 40k. “Unreal”, “Dawn of War” and “Spellforce” series, Syberia quests and “Dreamfall, the Longest Journey”, “Samorost”(it’s free quest game in Flash with beautiful design), StarCraft and WarCraft 2 and 3, “Majesty, the Fantasy Kingdom Sim”, “Tropico”. These are my favourites, there were other games of course, but these has nice story or are just fun to play. ![]() |

Just noticed... any one here a Mechwarrior / Battletech enthusiast? :) I've been playing for 20yrs. Mech4 Merc's now. I remember MW2. And since the game has been dead for over 5yrs, you may ask why I goto my Mech-o-holic meetings. It's because I use to mainline back in the heyday. I'm not hooked, well not anymore. I have a good handel on it and with the guidence of my sponcer, now only play 10hrs a day. I'm not addicted, I'M NOT! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
