Hi, I have been unable to install the software on several machines in my office, and when I uninstalled, re-downloaded and attempted to re-install onto my machine, I get the same error:
C:\Downloads\WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe is not a valid Win32 Application All machines are running Win XP Pro, SP1... anyone got any ideas? |

Hi, I am having the same problem today.... Even tried to install UD, but that did not help (still getting the same error about a non-valid Win32 application).

Hi JimThe name of the excutable file is Rosette.exe There is no executabe file named Agent.exe I would suggest that when downloading the application, you click on Save, as opposed to Run and save it it in C:\Downloads, then double click on it to install it on your computer It should create a directory called World Community Grid in C:\Program Files, also it will add an instance of the application in Start\Programs\Startup to enable it to run automatically upon booting up your PC It should also put an Icon on the Task Bar at the bottom right hand side Please try the above, and if you are unsuccessful please advise me Regards |

Further on Graham's information -- there is another executable which is UD.exe. This is the actual Agent software that was obtained from United Devices. It is located in the C:\Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid directory (or whichever drive it was installed to).

Hi Graham,
I did all that, but downloading / saving the file to a download directory (instead of running it from out of I.E.) does not work either. I downloaded file WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe And when you double click on it after download, i get the msg: C:\Downloads\WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe is not a valid Win32 Application I am running Windows XP Pro |

Jim and Gerard --
----------------------------------------I did some further checking and the executables that Graham and I have been pointing to are those you will see after installation. The executable you point to, WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe is the actual installation file which you downloaded. I will continue my analysis of this, but I do not have a machine which I can easily re-install the software on. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 11, 2005 1:59:59 PM] |

Just to confirm that the errors being experienced are with the installer downloaded from the WCG site, and not with installed executables. Agh, Windows!

Jim and Gerard --
Since neither Graham or I is in a position where we can uninstall and re-install the software right now, I have asked the World Community Grid software technicians to have a look at this problem for us. Hopefully we will be able to get to the bottom of this with their help. Regards, |

Jim and Gerard --
----------------------------------------Well, I decided that I could download it and at least start the program to see if I had the same problem without completing the installation if it did start. I am running Win XP Professional Edition with SP2 on this system and have AVG Free Edition anti-virus running. WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe did start for me successfully, so it doesn't appear that the downloaded installation file would be the cause of the problem. I am not sure what could be causing you to experience this problem though. Perhaps one of the other Admins or WCG Techs might be able to shed some additional light on this. Hi guys,
I tried it again at home (earlier attempt was at the office) and now it succeeded ! Don't know what caused it though... At the office i had switched off the firewall, so that couldn't have been the cause. Anyway, thx for taking a look at it. Jim, hope you'll solve it soon at your end as well. Gerard |
