I had to reinstall windows and I wiped out my Boinc directory. The old version still shows up. Is there any way to merge these two computers since they are the same and the old one will never be used. I did not make any changes, just reinstalled windows and boinc from a clean harderive.

No, don't worry about it. There is a FAQ, if you want to know more.

I saw the FAQ. "To merge a single computer, open its Summary page, and click on "Merge this computer". You will see a list of computers eligible to be merged with this one, and you can select any or all of them. "
----------------------------------------Where is the summary page so I can do this. I can not find it on World COmmunity Grid. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Wrong FAQ.
World Community Grid doesn't support this. It is only a cosmetic thing, please don't waste time on it. |

Wrong FAQ. World Community Grid doesn't support this. Its bad. It is only a cosmetic thing, please don't waste time on it. Isn`t a cosmetic thing, then WCG have more hosts in the stats, then ever on this. This is an error. If i change OS on my host or reinstall boinc that host is same before. What ID ever. This is an big error too, than i can manipulate old host with a copy of boinc. One of my hosts was create in february 2008, this host runs with an Intel Quad Q9450. Miracle? BOINC added a merge host feature very recently. It doesn't work particularly well, so WCG didn't bother.

BOINC added a merge host feature very recently. It doesn't work particularly well, so WCG didn't bother. In the multitude of projects that I participate in, it has worked flawlessly ![]()

BOINC added a merge host feature very recently. It doesn't work particularly well, so WCG didn't bother. "Recently"... as in 2004? It would be more correct to say that BOINC extended support so computers with same name + ip could be merged... ![]() "I make so many mistakes. It had major problems initially. Hopefully they have worked out the problems now.
WCG have an automatic host merging feature, instead. |
