rose Re: Day of Remembrance

I wrote this 24 hours after the tragedy. It was read to the lobbies during the time if mourning, through out the gaming zone I served in as aunit commander, as I was not connected to any DC project yet:

-----------------------

Cora OServer and the members of I3r wish to express our condolences to the 7 families of the crew aboard Columbia shuttle lost 2/1/03 15:20am EST When the obiter had tragically disintegrated on scheduled reentry.

It is important to remember those aboard, and all the explorers in the past lost to the seas of the unknown, as the bravest soles. In honor of the crew, lets reflect on the advantages of exploration we casually take for granted. Then remember them truly as fallen heroes in the silent war of mankind’s endless need to discover. A battle for which they gave their lives, but would do so again knowingly if it meant the end of mankind's dreams

It is customary to ring the 'ships bell' once for each of the soles lost aboard. But here to mark the event, I will read the names of the fallen warriors:

Mission Commander: Col Rick Husband \\\
Mission Pilot: Lt Col William McCool \\\
USA Payload Commander: Michael Anderson \\\
Israel Payload Commander: Col. Ilan Ramon (Israel Air Force) \\\
Mission Specialist: Kalpana Chawla \\\
Mission Specialist: David Brown \\\
Mission Specialist: Laurel Clark \\\

As they are lost to us in this world, we are sure that God is with them. Mankind's 'elite of the elite'. Thank You.
