----------------------------------------Unfortunately you are probably wasting your time by trying to help twisted0n3@gmail.com He makes quite a name for himself in this forum. He posts messages that say insulting things about programs he doesn't understand. He calls other people "names" and complains programs don't do "their ***** job" when he is the one who doesn't know how to use them. ![]() **Edited for inappropriate language** TKH [Edit 1 times, last edit by TKH at Jan 30, 2008 1:59:01 PM] |

Let's see. We have a bunch of insulting responses (but none of the insulting things they say are actually true) and one request for more info on the dud WU.
When I try to view my member page to look up the requested information, though, I get an incorrect response from your HTTP server. Strange that this happens right when that information is requested, making it impossible for me to find the exact information about the WU in question, thus making me look bad here. However, the problems I'd reported previously were with the *other* computer. That one has been crunching merrily for months now without incident. The new one has been as well, until today. As for "something in the system going kablooie", Windows XP says that that "something" was a Rosetta task that was running. That was the first thing to abnormally terminate with an error message, so presumptively it is where the initial fault occurred that subsequently affected other applications on that machine. I have managed to get it running stably again, at least for now; it seems that when Rosetta blew, a video being played in Winamp on the same machine at the time became corrupted and, subsequently, resuming playback of it crashed Winamp and this crash triggered the same cascading failure of other applications that happened initially with the Rosetta crash. Now I'll need to make another copy of that video file, too; how annoying. |

You presume too much.
Thank you for your report. We aren't going to pursue it any further, since there is no evidence BOINC is at fault. When everything crashes, you have a more serious problem. Just like before! This thread will now be locked. |

When everything is working normally until Rosetta crashes, and *then* everything crashes, there is indeed a serious problem, but it looks like Rosetta is the problem's trigger.

I would have thought that, as usual, Twisted is the trigger!
