More beeps were requested for other features, so we need different beeps or just a general beep to look at the message log or maybe even pop up screens.
----------------------------------------So much to improve on BOINC, the best place to report ideas is over at the Berkeley developers forum or put them straight into the 'Trac' system over there. But on this particular case i saw you posting in another thread, anyone who does not crunch on a daily basis should keep the buffering and connect times short and small. WCG has a very very hi uptime rating, thus a machine running dry or idling is very very remote. To hook into the other question on the function of 'Project Weight' in another thread today, I keep a second project on all my clients active that has a weight of '1' with WCG having 100. The jobs of my backup project are like 30 minutes and does 1 or 2 jobs a month to keep the crunching debt negative. In practice it only goes out to fetch work from that project when something is seriously wrong at WCG, which is virtually never. ttyl (If you see me throwing terms around not immediately clear, please read around. That's how i learned. AND, there is a Start Here FAQ topic on how to most efficiently and effectively navigate and search around these fora ).
