I got BOINC working using some notes I'd Googled for...until I realised the author (and not myself) was getting credit for the work. I found the WCG link to get my own account key, but now I'm getting a "Invalid or missing account key. Visit this project's website to get an account key." message.
----------------------------------------After find one typo in my original command, I'm sure I'm getting it right now (after all, I did get it crunching for someone else on my CPU), but without success. Anyone have any ideas or can help me troubleshoot for CLI only?

Examples... give examples. What did you type?
And please specify your BOINC version and where you got it from. If you give us specifics, we can indeed help. |

As I prepared to reply, I tried killing the boinc process and deleting the entire /home/BOINC directory. I then went through the install process again and it appears to work! Since I re-installed using command line history, best I can figure is that I had been doing things properly, but boinc was mad at me for the one time I mistyped my key on the original install. A fresh install seems to have done the trick...whatever, just happy it's working now

Well, that was easy.
With hindsight, I can tell you that you needed to detach from the WCG project before reattaching with the correct key. However, from the little you say, I'm guessing your BOINC installation isn't set up as well as it could be. Run BOINC as a daemon if you can. |
