Hi folks,
I'm having a small problem where the BOINC manager seems to ignore the setting not to run while on batteries. I have double & triple checked the settings both on my local computer & on the website, and I am certain it is set not to run when the laptop is on batteries. I have a MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.5.1. I tried updating to the latest version of BOINC Manager 5.10.33 (it was also happening on the version I had previously which I'm pretty sure was 5.10.28). Would appreciate it if someone could help with this because it's quite a pain remembering to suspend BOINC every time I unplug (I don't really like only having 1 hour of battery ) |

Hello omgim,
I don't have a Mac to look at, but my Windows BOINC stores local preferences in global_prefs.xml and global_prefs_override.xml. If they are gone, it has to follow the website preferences you saved from My Grid - Device Manager - (selected profile). Lawrence |

Hi Lawrence,
Thanks for the tip. I found the 2 files you mentioned (for other mac users, they're in /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/). The global_prefs_override.xml file has <run_on_batteries>0</run_on_batteries> but the global_prefs.xml file didn't so I added that to it. The website profile also has running on batteries disabled. None of this helped ![]() |

Hello omgim,
I think that you need a Mac expert. There ought to be a way to set the properties for BOINC so that it does not run on batteries. Something is overriding your preferences. All I can suggest is a query to BOINC ( http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/ ) or to a Mac user forum. Lawrence |
