Knoppix bootable cd and Boinc

Hi,

This is just a little message to let you know that Knoppix 5.1.1. with boinc 5.10.21 work very well. They are currently on 2 laptop without hdd using wi-fi to connect to my network. Everything was almost easy to setup. You have to know that the dhcp doesn't work with Knoppix 5.1.1, you have to manuablly set the ip address. This is the only bad thing I can say about this release!
I will let those 2 old Toshiba 6100 crunch without hdd until they die! smile
I'm currently posting this message with one of those laptop!

By the way, the idea of using Knoppix bootable cd to crunch is that some people working in computer department may use this setup to use old laptop or brand new laptop to crunch before they give them to the futur owner!
This version of Knoppix doesn't know that a computer should have a hdd, so it never try to write on it!
Big company often stack 5 - 10 laptop on tablet. This is purely computing power lost!

Think about it !

Re: Knoppix bootable cd and Boinc

Knoppix can be booted from a USB memory stick and have programs running on it that write to the USB memory stick. I did this about 1 year ago.
