Hi whocrazy,
;) To create these work units, I use a few different scripts (i.e., mini-programs) that were written by Ruth Huey and Dr. Lindy Lindstrom. Before I joined the FAAH team, they created different scripts that use Python commands and C-shell commands to prepare the work units in an automated manner. I only had to modify these scripts a bit, so that I could use them to prepare and test the types of experiments that I perform on FAAH. I can prepare and test the formatting of around 30,000 different work units each day on a single desktop computer running Linux. But even with these very useful scripts, one typo can mess up everything. In case you were wondering, the "Python" language was actually named after Monty Python. You are very welcome. Thanks for your interest and for your help, Dr. Alex Perryman oh boy. thats just what we need. a mad boffin called luke skywalker. buahahahaha. (jk) You mention docking. How do you actually create these work units. Do you have to manually type them out into a text editor? it must be a lot of hard work having to type out half a meg worth of numbers, if you get one little thing wrong, the boinc work unit would probably fall over. once again thanks for explaining how it all works. |
