Just a reminder about "Paused Agents", in case any of you are like me, and didn't click on and then read the second post of Maintenance period. <embarrassed>

Without something like UDMonitor to manage multiple workunits, the UD process is a serial process, and subject to every outage, as you found. You have to wait.
----------------------------------------If you are not using UDMonitor yet, don't start now. It does take a certain amount of babysitting. One of these days, POW!, You're going to BOINC. I have a couple of days worth of BOINC jobs waiting out there automatically, so don't really care about small maintenance periods. I did run some UD units last year when a 3 day blizzard hit the BOINC servers.

.... I did run some UD units last year when a 3 day blizzard hit the BOINC servers. ...from memory at that time, WCG Techs struggled in over the holiday period and fixed it after the 3 days.....GRORG had a problem at the sametime and took well over a week to get someone in. I pointed this out on their forum and got slammed by the Little Brown Poster for daring to critisise his buddy Robby......I wonder what happened to J Cherubim?? He kept very quiet when the predictions about UD all came true! ![]() |

One of these days, POW!, You're going to BOINC. I do run BOINC most of the time. I run the UD Agent whenever I am on the computer. (It just bugs me no end to see ZoneAlarm's red/green lights constantly flickering.) But whenever I am away from the computer and during the night, BOINC is running. So once that new version of ZA for Vista becomes available for XP, I'll switch to BOINC 24/7. Scribe: I wonder what happened to ... Are you trying to jinx us? You all only had to deal with him on the forums. I had to deal with him behind the scenes. <rolleyes> Now, wash your mouth and promise not to mention his name (or any other euphemism) ever again. ![]() |

Debs, run BOINC, go to task manager and end process Boincmgr.exe (no others). Boinc keep running and gets and returns WU but ZA does not flash.
----------------------------------------When you want to look at boinc, run boincmgr.....look and end process again when done.... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 7, 2007 7:23:41 AM] |

Or... you know, try the service install. Then you can start and exit BOINC Manager independent of BOINC.
I like the service install. Can you tell? :-) |

The problem with service install is you need a PC with password accounts....all my PC are just single users.....

To me, my method gives all the benefits of the service install without drawbacks...all you have to remember is to end Boincmgr vis task manager, not the exit on the menu.....
