Hello, I have around 40 devices running full time the UD Agent right now. I have migrated one of them to BOINC with no problems, keeping the 5 character password I had on my UD account.
----------------------------------------My problem is that now, whenever I finish installing BOINC on the rest of the systems, the program asks me for my username/password, which I type in, and the software tells me that the project requires 6 characters minimum (something that didn't come up on my first installation of BOINC). I thought about changing my original password so it fits the new lenghts rules. That does concern me though. Since all my devices are somewhat spread, I'm wondering if changing the password will make my UD devices stop working. Since they're configured with the old password, they won't be able to connect to send the results, right? According to the FAQ, it says that if my account was created with 5 characters, I should still be able to connect to the server. I have tried at many different times, and with 3 different computers to connect with my old password and I always get the same message. I'm kind of blocked as to what I can do now. I don't want to lose all the stats I have already or create a new account, I'd rather have them go up (#122 in processing-time after all ).Any help would be appreciated. Thanx. Changing your password via the website will not break the UD agent.
We realize that this may be a problem for many UD users and we are looking into accepting shorter passwords via the BOINC agent. If you'd like to wait for a more official announcement, you can do that; there will still be work available for UD at least until we make a password length decision. Otherwise, there should not be a problem with updating your password on the website and then signing in to the newly installed BOINC agents. |
