Hi, i started to use boinc last week. I did the download on the WCG website and got the version 5.10.22, after the installation, a new version was detected 5.10.28, and the agent started to download a lot of files, but when i check the version here, it is still 5.10.22, how can i change to 5.10.28?

The initial file download stream you saw were all the project graphic images, not a new BOINC version. Berkeley merely transmits a version note to the message log, but as yet there is no client update automation. What is automatic is the science updates. The version numbers you can see in the Tasks tab of BOINCmgr graphic interface.

Plz dont. WCG has 5.10.30 in beta (see that forum). And yes, you can install over it even while BOINC is still running. It will stop it for you.

Probably because they released it today (I think).

Probably because they released it today (I think). That might explain it. |

newbie to BOINC here.
----------------------------------------Mention of three different versions in 3 days makes me wonder if BOINC client automatically updates itself, or does the user have to do this manually? If the latter, does an older version run workunits just as efficiently? ![]() Crunching in memory of my Mum PEGGY, cousin ROPPA and Aunt AUDREY. |

No, it doesn't update.
But new versions are a lot more rare than this discussion may imply. Older versions usually work just fine. |

OK. Thanks for the clarification. I'll keep what I have and only look for updates if I see a problem.
----------------------------------------BTW. I was really surprised at how easy you guys have made it to switch from the UD client to BOINK ![]() Crunching in memory of my Mum PEGGY, cousin ROPPA and Aunt AUDREY. |
