Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I will try to be as clear as possible.
In a physical relay race, the number of runners is fixed before the start of the race and therefore known in advance.
Then, it does not move during all the race that lasts the relay.
In absolute terms, and for the Athena Trophy, it should be the same.
The number of "runners" should be set before the start of the race and should not move until the end of the relay for each team.
On the traditional BOINC platform, the founders have the option to close teams but on the WCG platform, this feature does not exist.
It thus appears that it is impossible to control the flow of volunteers incorporating or leaving teams.
Two factors must therefore be taken into account: the artificial flow of incorporations that could benefit a particular team and the specificity of the base campers.
These two factors of increasing the number of volunteers force us, organizers, to ensure that it does not take on an exponential dimension.
It turns out that if a handful of base campers (like TLD, little mermaid, BladeD...), or other volunteers, wish to favor a single team during one week of the Athena Trophy, we do not have any problem.
On the other hand, we could not tolerate that fifty or a hundred, for example, base campers, or other volunteers, would join the ranks of a team which would be admixture with artificial swelling of the team only for the challenge, and so cheating.
In another absolute, there should not be more volunteers integrating this or that team for the Athena Trophy than the normal number of volunteers incorporating the team according to an annual average evaluated in mobile accumulations.
In essence, we are trying to find a compromise between the open structure of the distributed computing teams, the specificity of the base campers and the fair play imperative that any competition imposes.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

[CSF] Thomas H.V. Dupont, thank you very much for this explanation of your idea.
You have gone to great lengths to clarify this.
I suppose you know that Base Camp is not a team, so we cannot join 'pools'
We can - on an individual basis - join a team which is in a pool.
We can - as a group of Base Campers - join a team we decide to support in a pool.
I suggest each Base Camper does as he feels like on an individual basis.
Once again, thank you Thomas rose

EDIT: Tried to clarify myself blushing

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Thomas,

Merci pour la réponse. Maintenant c'est clair, le Base Camp peut aider une équipe, mais une seule. Enfin, chacun choisit laquelle il veut aider, mais que celle là.
--------
Thank you for the answer. Now it's clear, Base Camp can help one team, but only one. Finally, everyone chooses which he wants to help, but that one.

good luck

NixChix,

Bienvenu dans l'équipe Kraland ! Toujours un plaisir de recevoir, et puis quand je vois ces stats ...

Welcome to the Kraland team! Always a pleasure to receive, and then when I see these stats ...

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

So, when should/must a Base Camper arrive at a chosen team?
And when can a Base Camper leave a chosen team?
And where can a Base Camper see which teams/'pools' he can chose from?
All in order not to spoil anything for anybody .....
