Re: New Websites to promote the World Community Grid

Daaaaaave,

Add the same para in French, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Arab, Hindi and Esperanto.

Assuming its going to stay a single paragraph, make it sensitive to the browser setting, serving it up in the local language and maybe scrape the stats page to pick up the current global Member/CPU figure.

How to get the translations: Post the static text and ask for members to provide one. Think there are enough volunteers here to provide for 'correction'.

And please, don't use Babelfish.... it will produce 'lost in translation' or pure nonsense and was good for a political riot a few weeks ago. Some American journalists thought they could send in the questions using that tool and upset foreign affairs big time (It does HIV to VIH in Spanish properly though biggrin ).

Oh, maybe replace the link with www.WCGrid.org .... It works.

ciao

(somehow this reminded me of that 'I want my Stickies' series last year wink )

Well done David.

I tried to translate it for you to Dutch but it's not as easy as I thought.
Anyway I had a go with it and I think the result is quite reasonable.
If anyone else has suggestions please do.
Ok here's Dutch:

"A crow carrying a pine cone
larger than its body
flapped its black wings
as it flew among the trees.

Others called out
hoarse encouragement
fluttering from branch
to leafy branch.

The effort seemed enormous
but meaningless
as I turned back
to the blank page before me."

Re: New Websites to promote the World Community Grid

They keep coming from Reddit and Stumble

Just not in their initial numbers

One extra cruncher would be worth all the effort though

That one extra cruncher might tell a thousand more

Re: New Websites to promote the World Community Grid

The thing I'm wondering, how is someone going to find these websites? Even more, how will they know they are trustable? I don't get this approach that well..
