Hello!
----------------------------------------I have a general question: Why don't WCG let translate the pages by their members? I think that a lot of members will translate and correct wrong translations. Thus there would be more languages available and I won't concern with the quality of translations because here are a lot of members who correct wrong translations. |

Hello crille1006,
WCG is officially responsible for everything it publishes on the web site. However, WCG members may post what they like on the WCG wiki at http://wcg.wikia.com/wiki/World_Community_Grid_Wiki Anybody can post translations on the wiki. Lawrence |

Hello,
I want to point out that there are people in the internet who might be willing to translate for World Community Grid for free. I would be willing and able to translate for you in German and Polish. I do not know Russian language, but maybe Yakovlev himself would be willing to do it? In my opinion, it is not necessary to bother IBM Russia to do the translation. I would like to suggest that WCC should simply put the texts to be translated on this forum and ask users to translate. I am very sure that users themselves will be willing to help. This proposition is very important especially concerning languages whith a huge number of speakers........Chinese.......and Russian. In my opinion, it is not useful to reject Russian just because for now (!!!!!) there is a little number of pariticipants. If there was a Russian translation on the official site, Russian search machines will start finding the site and the number of Russian speaking participiants will for sure strongly increase Please think deeply about that. I myself am ready to translate in German and Polish. I hope for a positive answer from WCC. Yours Martin Schnellinger |

There is already a Chinese translation. Specifically, it's just a SIMPLIFIED Chinese translation (dunno if there will be a TRADITIONAL Chinese one in the future...). |

I think the point is that for any translation to go on the actual WCG website, it will have to be endorsed by IBM, as their name is so tightly linked with WCG. This means a lot of red tape, involving IBM Russia etc. and probably just a plain No for too many languages, as it would increase the maintenance cost.
What is possible is posting translations here on the forum (I've seen some translated Project introduction posts), or on the Wiki, as these are community maintained. |

Hello,
Well, I understand that it is simply not possible to have a real russian version of the webesite and that there is a different way (Viki) where informations in Russian language can be published. I wonder, hoewerver, whether the Viki is as easy to find for Russian and Chinese search machines, as would be a real russian or chinese version of the website. I myself am not able to check this, because I am not able to speak russian or chinese. My question is: How can we help russian or chinese surfers to find worldcommunitygrid more easily? In Polish language, there is http://www.boincatpoland.org How about Russian and Chinese??? Greetings Martin |

Hi Lawrence!
----------------------------------------However, WCG members may post what they like on the WCG wiki at http://wcg.wikia.com/wiki/World_Community_Grid_Wiki I registered on the wiki. Does it make sense to start a new wiki for articles in german? Or what should be the article title for german articles in the existing wiki? crille |

If you are serious about this, then go ahead and register a new wiki: de.wcg
Start here: http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Special:CreateWiki If you are new to wiki editing, you might want to start by making a few edits to the English wiki. Don't worry about getting everything right. With a wiki, there is always someone else to fix the minor details. |

Some projects on Boinc support russian language, for example, Rosetta@home, SETI@home.
----------------------------------------In WCG many interesting projects for russian users, but arise difficulties with translate in our language. Even for me with some difficulty to catch all subtleties in this or that project. We have some sites on the distributed calculations (distributed.ru, www.boinc.ru), on these sites is description WCG and projects which are supported by this platform (http://distributed.ru/wiki/pro:wcg ), but is not enough of it! ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by cosmo_vk at May 26, 2009 8:56:14 AM] |
