Re: Buggy behavior

twisted0n3, you already have your answer. I'm afraid I don't have time to go round and round on the issue.

I have requested a lock for this thread: please will everyone stop posting here now, until one of the admins get around to it.

Thank you.

No, I do not have a specific answer to any of the questions asked just above. I don't appreciate your response to questions you don't want to answer being to try to shut me up, either.

Thanks. Too bad nobody is answering my other questions -- or acknowledging my point made earlier that all of us crunchers are also unpaid volunteers just trying to be as effective as possible...

Re: Buggy behavior

Think Lawrence found the FAQ related to the error which but a *entirely unknown DLL load problem* remains elusive and has been reported on other Distributed Computing projects as well and seemingly more frequent on Vista and occasionally on XP. Given Vista, I've added this to the Start Here Vista FAQ *as unresolved*.

At times, Windows has self healing abilities, and given Microsoft is resorting to changing fix and update behaviours without user/owner permission, nothing surprises me to include booting without user presence and reactivating Auto Update. - OFF topic, so not going to expound further on this.-

As for not getting AC@H jobs, they are very sparse and given there are only 820 in a batch, not send out every day, on the 225,000 work units daily send out / returned, the probability of getting any in the mix is minute. Some people have set it as their prime project, which lets them have first pick.

As for mentioning other projects outside WCG running on BOINC the seeming *hint hint* implied, there must be 50-60 if not more. We're very liberal in sharing the link to the list maintained at Distributed Computing website. Many of them also touch on Humanitarian objectives and like Simap or Malaria are in *my* eyes very worthy. WCG is just a one stop shop for multiple projects with more to come like Cancer being very imminent. The hardware requirements for that are not big. I'd say 1ghz and 512mb RAM and a few gb allocatable hard-disk space should have it run on any stable and fully OS updated system.
