It's sad people personally inflicted with a disease and trying to do everything they can to do their part to find a cure before their death are forced to watch what projects the WCG signs them up for. I'm sorry this process is wrong. If I wanted to sign up for the new program I would. I have it set to pull units from other project if the current one is out why would you change my preferences? So many of your friends' computers were just sitting there doing nothing because the project that they signed up for ended. This problem only happens during project changes. Simply uncheck the new one. Most of like to see a few of something new, anyway. I looked at one unit, and then went back to what I was doing. My father may have gone into the hospital for a cancer operation, but died of staph infection provided there. He didn't sign up for that, either.

My father may have gone into the hospital for a cancer operation, but died of staph infection provided there. He didn't sign up for that, either. I'm sorry about your father. I have signed up my computers to do project. I have signed them up to work on something I feel strongly about. It is why have accumulated 3,226,182 points, 11,094 Results returned and a total run time of 5:312:12:31:12 as of 1/22/2007. I first signed it up to do SETI then the WCG came to the Mac platform so I started AIDS research and now have changed that to DDD. For very personal reasons I'm not going to go into. The WCG in their infinite wisdom decided that it was OK for them to change what I had my computer idle processing power crunching so they added Conquering Cancer as part of their "opt" in process. I don't think they should have an "opt" in policy. I have my project set up to grab other projects if there are no work units. I do not have clicked participate in All Projects. If they want this opt in process it needs to be another check box. It's not right that they should be able to change my settings. |

I think they stated why they do this and the majority agrees with it, so uncheck it once and continue crunching whatever you want.

...and so you can, just uncheck the ones you do not want to run, just as you have been told before, and stop moaning!

i think sicembears is right. i didn´t recognized in time that there is a new project. so my pc was computing some wus of the cancer project. i think it´s my right to demand that i only paricipate in the projects i want to without checking every day if there is a new project online...

You don't get it Scribe. I don't want to be signed up for them in the first place. I picked what I wanted to be signed up for and what I want my computers running I do not want to be automatically signed up for other projects. I'm sorry that I wasn't clear enough on that.

Thank you. I don't want to cause a huge stink about this. I just have a problem with the way they sign you up for things. WCG is a great project. I'm not trying to dog them if I wanted to do that I would be talking on other websites what I trashy program this is and it isn't and I'm not. |

Yes and I want my paycheck without working for it. We can't all have it our way. They stated why they do this and you can judge for yourself on the poll above how the majority thinks about this. Frankly I see no logic why you keep repeating your posts.
