Well its been almost a year since BoincSpy has changed. Here are the changes:
What's New Add BOINC version checking for BoincSpy application(s). We must have a minimum BOINC version before these apps will run. For this release its 5.10.24 Beta version of BoincSpy.Farm. Viewer application(s). Allows users to view information on BOINC from different computers including Linux and Macs using Mono . See \BoincSpy\Farm\BoincSpy.Farm_setup.htm to configure and install. What's Fixed BOINC had made changes to RPC that caused all BoincSpy apps to crash. This is now fixed BoincSpy 1.7 can be found at here |

Thanks for the tip-off BoincSpy. The one that shows on the Berkeley add-on page is referenced as RC 1.00. Suggest if not already done to contact them to update their page.
----------------------------------------WCG generally does not recommend to use alpha or beta BOINC releases unless one wants to venture ahead or testing if something is not working in the Official version. At present time 5.10.22 is the package distributed here, thus if compatibility is not at risk, maybe you could downgrade the minimum requirement to WCG's latest release. thanks
