Re: Mac OS Leopard ?

It's about 9 months Vista has been there officially and not a beep by WCG, yet for most it works, so why would another More Wow is Now OS X variation not work? Suggest you give it a whirl and tell and share. Sure it will be appreciated by the under represented platform users (on these fora).

Re: Mac OS Leopard ?

Leopard is 64 bit.
So I imagine a 64 bit version of boinc will be introduced shortly. Just a guess. confused

Re: Mac OS Leopard ?

There is a stable 64 bit version of BOINC for Windows and Linux. Charlie Fenton (the Mac developer) has said he'll release a 64 bit version when Leopard is released. I'd imagine it will have to go through a bit of alpha testing before it's released to the general public though.

The Berkeley download page will give you the 64 bit option is you're running a 64 bit OS.

If you want to see older and test versions

Note that BOINC just does management. It's up to an individual project to offer 64 bit binaries for the science apps.

Any projects set up for 64 bit binaries? Are the folks running vista running in 32 or 64 bit? Same with the linux folks, 32 or 64?

My Vista/Fedora (dual booting) host is 32 bit on both. There are folks running the 64 bit version of both Windows (XP and Vista) and Linux (pick your favorite distro).

This thread at BOINC Stats is the most up to date list I know of for projects that send either true 64 bit apps or 32 bit apps to hosts running a 64 bit BOINC.

Re: Mac OS Leopard ?

So far, it works. Ran 1 days worth last night to see what happens. Except for the occational stuck work unit, no errors when I looked at it this morning. Running the latest version of boinc. Will upload this afternoon to see if the WU's turn out.

Problem with Mac OS Leopard

African Climate @ Home seems to have a problem with the new Leopard OS for Mac. See http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16774

Are all the other projects verifying correctly on Leopard?
