Are the handicaps correct? It seems with a handicap, it should be a lot closer than it is. Maybe the numbers are reversed?

The handicap should raise our score when compared to yours and vice versa as we had the lower average. We're currently running below our average - plus two members are camping over at Team Bravo (here's why - http://schwingingforbravo.blogspot.com/ ). |

Maybe the numbers are reversed? ![]() I think KeithHenry picked a low average for our team when he calculated the handicap. Looking at the last month, we are showing a significant increase in our points per day. edit: I should have looked at the preview closer before posting! ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jal2 at Feb 8, 2008 5:44:50 PM] |

Maybe the numbers are reversed? ![]() I think KeithHenry picked a low average for our team when he calculated the handicap. Looking at the last month, we are showing a significant increase in our points per day. edit: I should have looked at the preview closer before posting! The handicaps were figured by taking the total points by each team over the same 31 day period and dividing by 31 to get a daily average. Then the number needed when multiplying the average of one team that resulted in the average of the other team became the handicap. I didn't "shop" which 31 days any. It was the previous 31 days at the time I e-mailed Diana suggesting the challenge. Perhaps it's better to think of it as a conversion rate like with currency instead of a handicap. Your team averaged right at 247,000 points a day over those 31 days, we averaged right at 200,000. So, when converting your points to MOT points, they're multipled by a number less than 1. That's why there are 5 digits to the right of the decimal - to make the conversion precise. |

The other way to handle this is to create teams that combine for total score. This way you get to have any team battle any teams. This has an added effect, as you get to know those you battle with, very very well.
----------------------------------------I am only holding off on doing anything with WCG Sports until the playing feild is level enough for people to trust in. It would solve these problems without the turnaround delay to modify the website here to automate or even bug the admins at all. I have enough forum posts pre-recorded for 4 months to run the related thread like when the Christians vs DPC race was on. Plus the thread would cover mutiple races at once. Making a gripping combination out of what anyone would see as "submarine races". I dont know about you, but the only time submarine racing as gripping is when I want to grab some personal time with my SO on shore. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
