Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

OK translation

Are you using Firefox? If not why not biggrin

Firefox is a web browser like Internet Explorer

Get Firefox from http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/firefox/

Then when it is installed visit http://www.stumbleupon.com/ download and join stumble

So what is stumbleupon well it's like finding the Internet new all over again. People like me who have a website they think is cool (and I think everything about the WCG is cool) submit their site to stumble and as a user you enter your prefered secetion of sites like Christian and Music and so on and Stumble then picks those sites out of those that have been submitted to it and every now and again you "stumble upon" (get it) a gem of a website that is profound or beautiful in some way Just by pressing the Stumble button in your toolbar (beware very addictive)

Yesterday I submitted the http://cancer.researchonyourpc.com website to stumbleupon and within a few minutes I had had 200 visits from complete strangers 200 pairs of eyeballs looking at a site that tells them all about the WCG in simple terms

That has now dried up to a trickle (MMGW - sorry I couldn't resist it wink) because if no one clicks on the "I Like it" Thumbs up button that stumble puts on your Firefox Toolbar then Stumble thinks that the site isn't worthy of continuing to deliver traffic to

Wake up at the back sleep I'm boring myself wink

So there are 340,000 of us out there and if we install Firefox Install Stumble and visit http://cancer.researchonyourpc.com or any of the other sites that I've created that link to the same page and click I like it button in stumble

then...

Stumble thinks this must be a good site and presents the site to loads more potential crunchers

You can do this with the http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org site too and any other website you think is cool

jal2 as for Google it's a law unto itself as to where we end up. The key is having the right words on the site and in what are known as Meta tags which are a list of words that people might search for

our Meta tags for the site are

Cancer, Research, HIV, Aids, Malaria, Dengue, Malaria, Mucular Dystrophy, Climate Change, Science, MMGW, Green House Gases, CO2, Distributed Computing, BOINC, UD, Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing, IBM, World Community Grid, SETI, Cures, Treatments, Your, You, PC, Grid, Computing, Mac, Linux, Ubuntu

If you can think of any more I'll add them to the list those are the ones that came of the top of my head

would you believe that the meta tags for the World Community Grid are

World Community Grid, Technology Solving Problems

Which is why a defunct project grid.org is still way in front of the WCG as far as Google is concerned which is why due to a lack of response from IBM (again) I've taken this website promotion into our own hands and set up those sites see

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=17161

I don't subscribe to the defeatist viewpoint (Hey I'm Christian) and so having seen the challenge I thought I'd do something about it (again) Thanks to tresjolie and Diana G. for pushing me in the right direction

There are other sites like Reddit.com where if a site gets voted for it stays on teh front page so more people are likely to have Reddit or Digg.com where if you Dig a site mentioned then you can Digg it and once again more people get to see a brief introduction to what we are about on the WCG

This is a good way to get your Christian Websites noticed too

I've submitted us to all of the Search Engines Google being key and we are already there. I've Submitted to Stumble Digg and Reddit

I've done all I can do now I'm relying on you to help put that site in the path of a Globe full of potential crunchers and team mates for all at the WCG

I pray that we'll get so much traffic my webserver won't be able to cope with the load

Let's go crash it for good (as in for a Good thing)

rose Christians are giving...come give with us!

My My!!
Look what I've Stumbled Upon now! biggrin

C.S. Lewis Quotes:

Life
“You will never know how much you believe something until it is a matter of life and death.” “If you think of this world as a place intended simply for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable: think of it as a place of training and correction and it’s not so bad.” – God in the Dock.

“One of the things that distinguishes man from the other animals is that he wants to know things, wants to find out what reality is like, simply for the sake of knowing. When that desire is completely quenched in anyone, I think he has become something less than human.” – God in the Dock.

"Try to exclude the possibility of suffering which the order of nature and the existence of free-wills involve, and you find that you have excluded life itself." – The Problem of Pain

Atheism
"Atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning. . ." – Mere Christianity

"Now that I am a Christian I do have moods in which the whole thing looks improbable: but when I was an atheist I had moods in which Christianity looked terribly probable." – Mere Christianity

"A young man who wishes to remain a sound Atheist cannot be too careful of his reading. There are traps everywhere -- 'Bibles laid open, millions of surprises,' as Herbert says, 'fine nets and stratagems.' God is, if I may say it, very unscrupulous." – Surprised by Joy

God
"My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?" - Mere Christianity

"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him:
'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God.'
That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic -- on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg -- or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. "– Mere Christianity.

"You must picture me alone in that room in Magdalen, night after night, feeling, whenever my mind lifted even for a second from my work, the steady, unrelenting approach of Him whom I so earnestly desired not to meet. That which I greatly feared had at last come upon me. In the Trinity Term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England." – Surprised by Joy

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." – Is Theology Poetry?

This fellow should write a Book... wink

Robby I did warn you it is very addictive biggrin

But as you see you get a gem every now and again

Just remember to step away from the stumble button every now and again

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

It's titled "A true and genuine relationship with Jesus which sustains us day by day" see even the title takes it's time

be blessed all

http://www.myonlineworship.com/churches/podcasts/5/210.mp3

rose Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

WOW David, that was definitely a seed POD!
Here is a short prayer that I think goes along with it..

Father I know the choice is mine,
to respond to Your grace in humility and faith
or reject it,
to know You personally
or to just know about You factually,
to live life every day with You living through me
or to just do things for You out of some sense of duty or fear of punishment in shallowness and hypocrisy.
I want the real thing!
A real relationship with You.
So that I can spend eternity with You.
And eternity includes right now!
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen

Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

Hey guys. I will listen to this Seed Pod after a bit tonight. I just got home from one CRAZY BUSY day at work. Had a talk with my daughter this morning so got to continue taking care of that.

I will be full of gratitude when I can finally take a breather :)

Great thing is I don't have to work again till Sat. I don't know how that happened but I'm not complaining biggrin

Hugs!

Diana
