Hi!
----------------------------------------Please, optimize your applications to make science run faster! SETI@home is already doing this then why not WCG. Please, make co-operation with the BOINC-developer team to make optimized apps automatic. Nowadays, user has to install optimized apps manually. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Henri Tapani Heinonen at Oct 15, 2007 8:56:47 PM] |

The WCG developers already optimise the science applications to the best of their ability.
This has nothing to do with the BOINC developers. |

The WCG developers already optimise the science applications to the best of their ability. I do not believe that they use the full potential of SSE(1/2/3)/SSSE3 -instruction sets. If they do, apps would not be compatible like they are today. For example, SSE3-optimized app would not work on SSE2-processor at all. That is why the co-operation with the David Anderson's BOINC team is necessary. To make BOINC automatically download the correct optimized app. This has nothing to do with the BOINC developers. I thought you already switched to BOINC. Hmm? PS. Please, make all you can do to take the full potential of SSE/SSE2/SSE3/SSSE3/SSE4/SSE5 -instruction sets. That would give us LOTS of more computing power. ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by Henri Tapani Heinonen at Oct 16, 2007 5:24:47 AM] |

BOINC is since 5.8 capable of identifying the exact CPU/feature set and *is* communicating this back to the servers. With that DA's job is done.
----------------------------------------Presently about 16 science versions are running and a further 4 will be added with an upcoming project release (Cancer) and the parallel DDDT phase 2 scheduled to run in the near future.

Wrong forum, wrong thread
----------------------------------------![]() See para 3 of the project website technical detail. Word *was* that phase 2 would start before phase 1 finishes, but it's all dependend on other successful launches. Call it experiment 1 feeding experiment 2 in a conveyor belt set up with a storage bin in-between
