The computer name is ALAN.
I created a new admin account called Boinc with password.
I tried the domain/user thingy with and Without <....>.
I tried it with just Boinc, defaulting the domain.

Re: BOINC as a Service

I may have found a way which is nearly as good!

1. Set your prefs so that it will not work while computer is in use - I set to 5 mins idle.

2. Invoke task manager and select Boincmgr (ONLY that) and end process.

3. The applications remains 'on' and starts to run after 5 mins, it even changes over Projects if you are project sharing.

4. Application runs t 100% unless you touch keyboard or move mouse, then it drops to zero.

Anyone see any problems?

Re: BOINC as a Service

7. If you use cc_config.xml for extra manual options, make a backup of that file before service installation and restore if need be afterwards. Unless fixed in an silent update, the early WCG 5.10.22 release caused the overwrite of this file (had that on one happening).

Rom will be creating a new WCG build of the 5.10.22 BOINC client shortly that will not overwrite the cc_config.xml file (nor will it remove it when you upgrade)

(and yes - this is off topic in regards to the rest of the thread)
