Beta testing for climate on macs

I just opted in for beta testing and would like only the climate WU's. Do I need to put a check in climate on my default settings or leave it unchecked.

Re: Beta testing for climate on macs

Hello Bearcat,
Beta Test work units may be for any project - announced or unannounced. There is no way to specify that you want only a specific type of Beta work unit. As far as I know, we are not currently beta testing anything. Why not check everything and see what your Mac gets?

Re: Beta testing for climate on macs

Hello Bearcat,
I ?think? that we are running a very few ACAH units on the Mac. I know that our plan is to run only a few ACAH units until the project scientists are sure that everything is working properly.

Re: Beta testing for climate on macs

Here is a post by uplinger that sounds ominous for Mac users who want to run AfricanClimateAtHome: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16679#132194

My suggestion is not to set a Mac to only run ACAH without also setting the Run Anything if no project units are available flag. Apparently we need more Mac users.

Re: Beta testing for climate on macs

Hi

the above link points to a topic I raised. I hope I'm not causing problems/issues here - I'm new, although an experienced ex Folding@Home cruncher and am used to betatesting and initial launch issues etc etc.

I'm not familiar with the way WCG works but am getting an insight thanks to your patience and skill and knowledge.

I am more than happy to help with any beta testing including AfricanClimate@Home. I'm not here for the points but for the science.

Hopefully you can pull together enough Mac testers, I am more than happy to be one.

Re: Beta testing for climate on macs

utopia-i,

Nice to 'see' a familiar face here. Although I still maintain a stable of machines for folding, I've diversified my efforts to assist with other projects, including here with the dddt project. If you're interested in contributing to our team here at WCG, please join us at "MacOS X Users" here. Also see here for some stats:
<http://www.dc-vault.com/showteam.php?team=103>
Hope to see you there.

To get back on thread here, it seems some beta testers are needed here from the Mac platform, so I'll be adding a couple of machines to help out with this.

Cheers,
Rick
