Hello UNiRAC,
According to http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq our current projects require at least 250MB. You might want to check http://distributedcomputing.info/projects.html to see what projects can run on your laptops.

Enjoy your Oktoberfest!
Lawrence

I recommended 1.5 Gb to 2.0 Gb cache on another thread and they got it working.

Google@home abandoned their grid effort several years ago. That solution would be non-satisfying.

You probably have integrated motherboard graphics, which is stealing 64 Mb from main memory for use by graphics. If there's some way to get a 64 Mb or up graphics card in there, that would give you your whole 256Mb back. That's still a small enough number that the swap space should be quite large, as above.

What about another 256Mb of memory? We have a Goodwill computer store in town that has a lot of types of ancient memory modules. Perhaps you have something similar around.
