gstate.init() failed: -180

When i try to attact a project through command line this is what returns after about 30 of these [error] GUI RPC bind failed: 99. Boinc also does not connect to localhost and I even followed a few other tutorials too. I came here to post this question since I am getting tired of searching around the net.

BTW I am running Slackware 12

BOINC does RPC on localhost port 31416. Are you blocking this?

Re: gstate.init() failed: -180

I already figured it out so far. I can't run gui but it does work in command line. This works for me since I never cared for a gui as long as it does the work. Plus, it looks a lot more interesting in command line.

I ran boinc with these switches as regular user and now its working
./boinc -check_all_logins -allow_remote_gui_rpc

found the culprit to get gui working again instead of just command line. i typed "ifconfig", i noticed localhost was not up, so i then proceeding to type "ifconfig lo up" and started up boinc again. VOILA! everything is working again. i think it was not working because i disabled some startup scripts in my rc.d dir to make booting up quicker.
