Would it be possible to the title displayed under your username when posting in the forums to be relative to the number of points generated/run time accummulated, etc. as well as to the number of posts made. For instance, 500,000 point milestone could promote you from cruncher to advanced cruncher and so on.
----------------------------------------I only ask as I know many people who promote WCG and install the application on every machine they come across, but have limited time to post in the forums. Myself being one.

Hello crooks_uk,
As far as I know, the titles are part of the forum software, so they are based on information in the forum database. It would be necessary to reprogram and recompile to have the forum access the server database to see points. Lawrence |

The forum titles are a reflection of those participating here.... so is the idea. If one makes few posts, those extra distinctions will very rapidly sink to oblivion and those who do participate frequently have, for as long as i can remember, made their mark thru the tools like that of Mousie and use that on multiple projects as a uniform 'tell you about me' Anyway, not seen your suggestion in the "Forum Wishlist" thread. Feel free to add.

The main confusion regarding these "titles" comes from the unfortunate choice of the reference list. While, as for most forum softwares, these titles are only related to the number of posts the list has been built referring to the actual crunching activity.
----------------------------------------A simple, quick and reasonable fix would be to replace the current list with one describing the posting activity. Something like (but not exactly) "shy poster", "frequent poster", "talkative poster", "very talkative poster", etc... ![]() Cheers. Jean. |

Hello JmBoullier,
This was a hot topic back in 2005. I suggested Gabby, etc. But the decision was made to use the neutral 'Cruncher' rather than the humorous suggestions for naming our chatter-boxes. Lawrence |

Lawrence, since
----------------------------------------1. it is actually difficult to find smart titles referring to the number of posts 2. that number of posts is visible anyway, so the title is useless for normal posters 3. the use of "cruncher" for that matter seems less neutral than expected and is even controversial from time to time Then why not getting rid of these useless titles completely? That would not penalize any normal poster and that would make the useful titles (CAs, Staff, Scientists,...) more visible. |
