What does "zero status but no finished file" mean

I am running Windows 2K, BOINC Version 5.10.20.

I am getting the following messages. It looks like I still get credit though. What does this mean?

Re: What does "zero status but no finished file" mean

It means the BOINC client and the WCG app lost communication for a while. Normally it is nothing to worry about. In the log posted the occurences are far enough apart to be sure there is not a problem.

Thanks for your quick response. It looks like I am getting this message twice for every work unit I process. This does not seem normal if it is happening on every work unit. Is this a "feature" of 5.10?

Re: What does "zero status but no finished file" mean

Hi mclaver,
No. I am running 5.10 and I do not get this message. A long time ago, I would occasionally get it. What firewall do you use? (I think that I got it while using ZoneAlarm before I switched to McAfee Firewall.)

It may be that your operating system is synchronizing system time every 3 hours (think thats the default). The science does not like time alignments, particularly backwards. I've disabled system time-sync function and do it whenever the wristwatch tells the times are several minutes out of step.

Added: Somewhere is a post how to change the timing.... I've done it in past with a Registry tweak. The value is stored in seconds, it would thus be like 10800.
