Hi all,
Im rather new (at least to wcg and this forum)...Im interested is there a way to pick and choose your priorities once in wcg (or only wcg over other projects)...Im also curious why -in BOINC- when I go to "sign up for project" it tells me I have the "wrong password"...I have verified that wcg does use the same password as BOINC (along with account name, email etc.)?? |

Hello Leprichon,
My Grid - My Projects lets you choose which WCG projects you run. The World Community Grid counts as only one BOINC project so you cannot set individual weights for each WCG project. Could yo give us some more information about your password problem? What does My Grid - Device Manager say about your computer? Lawrence |

just to verify, its sep 10 and Im still having the connecting problem...Im not sure I have more information I can give...Ive tried to "Sign-up for projects" -wcg- (from BOINCstats) to my prtfolio of projects in BOINC... When I do (I select "find account" - because I used to have it running - before I changed my screen name) it shows the error "wrong password"...I have checkd the wcg website and all information there seems to match with the information I have with BOINCstats...Still unsure what to do...if there is some specific information youd like me to give - please ask.

I dont see a way to edit one of my current posts...I just wanted to re-state that along with the error "wrong password" I dont seem able to add wcg to my list of projects that Im crunching in BOINC..

First things first, let me ask the admin TKH/CIH to move this thread to BOINC agent support.
----------------------------------------Some questions: 1. What OS 2. What BOINC version 3. What security software (Firewall, Anti virus, anti spam) 4. Any proxies in between. 5. Have you chosen the 'existing member' box before entering name/password? The email account is of no relevance to WCG. It only serves as the vehicle to consolidate the different BOINC projects. The only pre-selection possible in WCG projects is to pick e.g. FA@H+DDD-T as your primary projects and tick the alternate work option at box. If your primary projects have no work, they'd work on the remaining, randomly. ttyl

ok heres an issue that I think may be of great importants...The reason I changed my screen-name was because I was a member of the BOINC Synergy team and it was suggested by their main man that its members put a [B^S] in front of their name (this makes my name with BOINCstats [B^S] Leprichon), but when I try to change my name (from Leprichon) to [B^S] Leprichon with wcg I get the error there "Member Name contains invalid characters. Please try again."...so I believe this is why I cant get BOINCstats to recognize and add wcg to my BOINC roster of other programs. How should I remedy??

So not the password but a special character. Still not of importance as was explained the BOINCstats are consolidated on basis of the a uniform email address. U could rename Leprichon to the needed name without the ^ and put in an acceptable substitute. After, inform the Synergy admin to also look for e.g. an underline '_'.
----------------------------------------You have to decide, make the My Grid > My Profile change and after connect the device. WCG does not allow name creations during the 'attach' process as you will have discovered, so use the exact name use decided on previously.
