Connecting to Core Client Error

I had a technical problem, but managed to solve it, and I just want to put out there the knowledge on how to do it for everyone else out there.

Basically, after installing the program and rebooting, the program could no longer "connect to the core client program."

After viewing the tech help thread, I had a few ideas. First, I allowed the program specifically through the firewall, rather than just opening ports. No difference.

Then I tried setting compatibility for the executables to "run as administrator."

This fixed everything. While this did not actually fix the problem, what it did do was cause windwos to sense that "there are compatibility issues with this program Windows has automatically changed some compatability settings for you. The next time you start this program, it should work correctly for you."

And viola, it came true.

Re: Connecting to Core Client Error

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

For future reference, this (and other issues) are covered in the Vista FAQ: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=12856
