Re: Incredible runtime

Credit is awarded based on when work validates, not when it is actually done. This means your output may spike now and then.

The average is a more useful number.

that is one of the things that held me on the UD agent since I started here back in April.. the BOINC turn around time.. hopefully in the future Berkley can have it secured enough and do error correction to have a one pass deal like the UD agent.. having a vaildation by 3 or more other systems to me is kinda crazy.. good for checking results enough times. once that issue has been stamped out of the design then will be full steam ahead for us all..
I am upset that UD is not doing anything at all to fix their software.. funny how they get all the fame then just cut it all off.. shame on UD..

Re: Incredible runtime

You are misinformed.... the UD agent does validation via multiple copies as well. You just don't get to see what's going on.

Re: Incredible runtime

could be they use the multi copies too but they where always hush hush on it all.. sad that are not doing anything anymore with their software. been running almost a whole day on BOINC must say it works pretty good.. only thing I havn't worked around is that it holds results in queue till the next WU is done before it sends them out for vaildation.. then on a long work unit I noticed a few hours in with may hours left BOINC will already have another in Queue just sitting and waiting.. dunno what all the other troubles some folks been getting.. I been screening the message logs and noticed no big errors... seem BOINC uses more VM then Physical RAM UD was the other way around.. would like to see custom user nameable BOINC profiles instead of the HOME, OFFICE, SCHOOL choices. I would like to set research programs for diffrent systems right now they are all off the same profile..

Re: Incredible runtime

Hello choj01,
The application program is the important thing. BOINC and UD are pretty much the same, except that some different subroutines have to be added to the application to allow UD or BOINC to control it.

'cause it's emulating 2cores...so the 2core in BOINC is automaticly set for 2jobs...2jobs give twice as many points, and twice as many total hours, 'cause it's calculated for each core the time consumed... there we have: 2cores, gets twice the hours...

Re: Incredible runtime

If that were only true. Too much has already been said about this P4 HT fable. 115% is what you get at the very best. The WCG recommendation is to set HT clients to 1 core.
