I thought it would be interesting to see when exactly the /. team would outperform #2, #3 #4 and #5 combined, and tonight we set that record! Weee!! Next up are the rest of the top 10 teams. Come on dots, lets crunch them!
----------------------------------------Cheers! [update 1] We also embraced #6! [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 31, 2005 11:58:39 AM] |

Wwooow.. We did 5000+ results yesterday, which seems to be the absolute top score. Statistically, chances are high that there will be a drop now, but it would be nice if we could stay above 5000 on average!
Good work, /.! |

Dunno if Opera is going to let me post today (it[s been flakey about letting me post), but dang, if you look at the stats, you can seriously tell when WCG was posted on the main page of /., it's remarkable.
![]() On the 30th of Dev, 71 results returned. On the 31st of Dec, 3k! The median (mean?) is more around 3k results per day. And around 4 years of computing per day. Again, remarkable. On another note, my computer spits through a result in about 6 hours, and I have yet, in almsot a week of crunching, got a packet that took more than about 10 hours (so no big crunchers for me). |

Yep, it`s amazing. If you look at the # of results of the whole WCG today, and put the # of results that slashdot did next to it, you can see that slashdot does more than 1/rd of the work on any given day!
When that linux client comes along, I expect another frontpage post which will draw many more uptime idlers and latent servers to the grid! |

Hi a0a Yep It's Amazing, Ok! enough, I think we finally get your point When we get over 3000 members on our team we will drool all over the forums too! But I feel sure we will be a little more subtle and sedate about it Hurry up and run out of sandpaperRegards [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 27, 2005 5:32:02 PM] |

Well Graham you have a funny way of conversation in these forums yourself, but anyway, no more gloat-spamming from me, cheers!

hey a0a Let me please be the first to compliment /. for their outstanding effort again, as I have done on occassions in the past I have only admiration for the efforts that you guys have brought to the WCG Please keep up your messages to remind everyone how well you guys are doing I was not having a pop at you my friend, it was just tongue in cheek It seems I have foot and mouth desease today, I open my mouth and put my foot in, shame on me That is what the smileys are for to let peole know you are just having a bit of fun Is'nt that what its all about I am sorry you took it personal, as the ribbing was not aimed at you personally, it was meant in general fun A number of members here rib me all the time in good fun Are we friends again?Best regards See below Here are a couple of my previous compliments to /. In answer to the message above How about submitting this story /.ers put all other teams on the back burner, remove their motivation, take away their reason to compete, leave them depressed and miserable, increase their rate of manic depression, and supress their urge to contribute congratulatory messages. That will do for starters That should get some headlines and bring a bunch of new members to our rescue Joking aside "Congratulations and well done " Hi Artega VH[In any case the article on Slashdot helped to attract around 3000 new people to the project... which has got to be a good thing!] I am in full agreement with that statement and I only hope more ways can be found to get another influx of members as strong as the /.ers They sure have generated some excitement in the forums which can only be a great benefit to the project Their success story needs to be splashed across a few more tech sites as it goes a long way to prove the power of advertising the efforts being made here by everyone Bringing this project to the attention of only a few tech sites could bring in another 10,000 members in a very short period of time, as proven by the success of the little snippet on Slashdot.org Regards [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 27, 2005 7:52:02 PM] |

Hi Graham
Don`t worry I`m not taking it personal, in fact I am a *very* sedated person. :D But statistics is what make US sports such fun to watch, so in that good tradition why not make it some sort of competition eh.. (especially since I`m on the winning team.. for now .. weeee) You don`t need to show proof of your good intentions Graham, I know you are ok, I read the other threads too. You just have a funny way of conversation :) I readily admitt that I was trying to keep the slashdot thread in the upper regions of the teams board, but I seem to be the only one as such so there does not seem to be any real point in doing so. Most of the new members will join from /. itself anyway. So, to wrap it up: No offense taken. Friends again. Keep rocking the board! Cheers! |
