I'm sorry--
----------------------------------------I'm sure this has been asked before. How does one upgrade the version of BOINC? Can I reinstall the latest version over my version, or do I need to uninstall the old version first? Will I lose WUs? I just started using BOINC a few days ago, and the version I got from WCG isn't the latest version. [Edit 1 times, last edit by littlepeaks at Aug 10, 2007 1:40:33 AM] |

Presuming Windows not running as service, exit BOINC Manager from the icon in the notification area (system tray), and install on top. You will not lose work. It will also work fine if you uninstall BOINC because the BOINC folder and essential files will remain after you uninstall.

BOINC installation is even so smart to stop the existing program regardless how it is running (Single User, Shared or Service) before installing the new one. Shared and Service install options are only available from the official Berkeley version. The WCG version presently only offers Single User.
