I've managed to do it on my computers, but when I'm doing it using my friend's account and laptop, I can't seem to get the computer to get more than two workunits (the ones you get when you reach around 50% of the ones you're working on). I already changed the profile settings of his account, changed his boinc preferences, and even went to the extent of detaching and reattaching his account to no avail. The scheduler just doesn't want to get more work not because of errors, but because it thinks it doesn't have to.

Can you post all your friends setting in the global_prefs.xml and the global_prefs_override.xml.
----------------------------------------Check in the client_state.xml in the WCG section what the Duration Correction factor is and let us know.

atm, see nothing unhealthy here.... The fact that there is the extensive 'override' set of settings suggests that 5.10.x is being used (what version????) and the realization needs to be made that many settings from the website are being ignored by using local preferences!
----------------------------------------Two more items if you will for posting here: -The benchmark values (should be near beginning of message log, but can be forced by going into the advanced menu and running one) -The Time_stats section from the client_state.xml A New install sometimes needs several days to 2 weeks before it finds the balance.

I observed it for a few seconds and it didn't pause. I set the preferences at 100% as well. His computer's running 5.10.13. I got mine to work on 5.10.7s... maybe luckily. Also, after my initial post, I was able to download another workunit, thus I think I'll be expecting one more, making my queue a whopping 4 units. I'd like to have a bit more, though. Might fall asleep soon so my next reply might take some time. Help would still be appreciated, and many thanks, Sek. ![]() |

BOINC 5.10 sets up local preferences (available in the Advanced Tab) to cache 0.25 days by default. Until we change the web site to include the new variables introduced in BOINC 5.10, the web site preferences will always be overridden by the default local preference values, so you have to fiddle with local preferences when running BOINC 5.10.
----------------------------------------Lawrence Added in response to Sekerob: Yes, apparently he has discovered the Advanced setting for Local Preferences. I should have read more carefully rather than just blathering. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 25, 2007 8:05:19 PM] |

Excellent pwet,
----------------------------------------It's the time factor i mentioned... you need to let it crunch for a bit to sort itself out. Can you please insert with brackets [RESOLVED] in the opening post title header so all know it's done. To edit, hit little pencil next to post title. cheers and happy crunching.
