I made it into the top 5000 in all 3 categories

I just made it into the top 5000 for results returned as I am in 4995th position. There are 6 members with that number so there is no one in the 4996-5000th positions. If there is more than one member with a certain number of results than they all should be at that position but the one with the next amount should be only one away so there should be alot more members in the top 5000 than 5000 as there are plenty of members that are tied with other members. I do not know why my position in points(3398th) is so much better than the other two. I am 4105th position in cpu time. I have a higher average per result than the average for everyone so that might be the one of the reason why my position in results returned is the worst of the three. The other is the amount of members with duplcate number of results. It has been a little less than 3 months now since I started all of my computers on this project. I had one or two here for more than a year. I was a member of grid.org for almost 6 years and they closed up on April 25th, 2007. I see that the top member has recently gone over 1 million results so I feel alot better knowing that some organization is willing to put that much effort and expense into this project.

Congratulations Rick. I'm hopefully a month or two behind you, so don't slow down or you might get passed biggrin

This is a fancy idea! The purpose of rankings is not to have 10000 people or more in the Top 5000 but to allow you and others to measure your achievement with a simple figure. When I see that you are 4995th it is clear to me that there are only 4994 members who have returned more results than you (which is good, congratulations). And if every day there are only 2000 members who return more results than you your ranking will clearly improve time after time.

The way you suggest the rankings will only express how many different totals there are before yours (which may vary unpredictably) and not how you compare with other members or with your achievement one month earlier.

Cheers. Jean.

Re: I made it into the top 5000 in all 3 categories

grats RTB

"Ex Equo" it's called. Commonly if 5 would be on the same spot say 4995, positions 4996-4999 would not be listed and 5000 would be the next up.... it's after all the top 5000. Think the rule is like 'who came first' if scores are equal.

As for results.... I've had a preference for long/heavy unit projects, thus my Results position is way behind the points. As no CPU is equal in speed, the faster machines I've had fortune of running also generated more points than CPU time would suggest, thus former in position is also way ahead.

Now, I'm on 1902 (points) per yesterday (which took 2.8 years on the calendar), so come and join me.... the more who want to crowd the spot the better wink
