Very long FA@H Work Units?

I have got a Problem, because my FA@H Work Units doesn't need ~7 hours like in the past. They need ~13 hours.
Ok it isn't a problem but this situation started on saturday or sunday.
I've heard sth about WU's that are very long but the Boinc Client said to me that the WU needs 5 hours to finish.
But after the old WU Unit ended, the time of the new one raised up to 7 then 8, 9 etc. hours.

Now I need 10-13 hours to finish a work unit. Is it normal or ist there a problem with Boinc?

Re: Very long FA@H Work Units?

Hello SixerHood,
It is not a problem with BOINC. The WCG decides how much work to stuff into a work unit. Recently the decision has been made to increase the length of some work units. There is no easy way to follow this. If you select Statistics - By Projects then you can calculate how long it takes per result in the Yesterday section. Better use a calculator to convert years into minutes while doing this.

Hmmm... Retsof's post below is correct. I remembered that a change was coming but not what sort. The FAAH work units are going to get shorter, not longer. Well, better check with Task Manager to make sure that the FAAH application program is running at 98-99%.

If that's your only problem, I don't think you should worry about it. Keep an eye on them for the next few days, and report back if they continue to take a long time.

Oh, it's not a problem, but I don't think that it is normal.
I had WU's with 7 hours run time but now I've got WU's with 13 hours run time.

I keep an eye on it, and report what's happening.

Re: Very long FA@H Work Units?

Several have received some long workunits, but watch for new ones to be shorter in a couple of days.

Re: Very long FA@H Work Units?

Y'all aren't running any 3-D screensavers, are you?

(Windows) If BOINC runs at the same time as Windows XP 3-D screensavers, the system becomes sluggish and unresponsive.

Re: Very long FA@H Work Units?

No I'm not running a 3-D Screensaver. Boinc is running while I#m surfing in the Internet or while I'm away. My Screen is shutting down after 5 Minutes.
So I needed a Screensaver.

This isn't new, it is since ~2 months and not since last Saturday.

Maybe I would take shorter WU's in the next days. Because now I have got 2 HPF2 WU's with the same higher processing time as a normal WU's.
But the only thing that I can do is, that I can wait.

Re: Very long FA@H Work Units?

In this graph you can already see the shortening effect from knreed packing less attempts into a single work unit starting July 19-20. It's only for the BOINC jobs, so a bit obscured in the totals.

Re: Very long FA@H Work Units?

Sekerob, can you provide a rescaled version with HCMD omitted?

Maybe you could find a way to overlay the averages on the graph?

And (I don't say this often enough) - your graphs are AWESOME!
