19 hours & 13.4% completed

I am running a 3.2 gig hyperthreaded PC expressed machine with 2 gig ram. currently folding this latest Proteome, the machine has spent a little over 19 hrs and only complete 13.4% running at 60% using UD agent, that seems a wee bit slow. Normally between 5 to 11 hours has been the norm, I am new to this Grid.org, coming over from the UD cancer grid. Back in my pentium 200 days, I might see this then, so what gives, am I missing somthing or are numbers like this to be expected confused I have been averaging about 7.8 or so hours / unit with this machine overall.

THanks

Roger

Roger, sometimes a HPF2 gets stuck in a loop for no clear reason. Snooze the agent and exit and restart. It most likely will continue speedily. Been reported, but remains elusive.

BUT, before doing that, can you check the wcg_xxxxxxx.exe process in Taskmanager (Ctrl-Shift_Esc) and see if it gets a high CPU percentage.

You dont have BOINC or Grid Republic or the like started i hop as those 2 wont allow HPF2 almost nothing in CPU time when run on UD agent?

err. ummm... d oh I err had boinc running in the back ground. I had loaded a few days earlier. I wasn't impressed with it (being different) so I closed the lower right icon thinking I had turned it off d oh

Anyway checking my statistics showed my computer was indeed still crunching (boincing) d oh

So I disabled UD on this machine crying

Thanks for waking me up biggrin biggrin biggrin

Re: 19 hours & 13.4% completed

Hi Roger,

I am a transfer from the old world of UD as well..
the HPF - P2 project is like it was on UD when it ran it's phase of the project some work unit are quick and some take a long time.. I agree with you that is kind of long for a work unit at this point I would monitor it.. if it does not go a point higher in lets say a few hours you may have a process on your computer that may be stopping it from working. or the WU somehow is bad and may need to be dropped for a new one. 3.2 Ghz is a good CPU for the task. only going to use 1/2 of it anyway. also did you adjust the CPU throttle on the program.. UD ran 100% with WCG it is 60% use by default there is a enviroment string you can set that will make the program 100% use if you have not done so already.
