Hi all,
I love the idea of using computers of people that want to volunteer. Since I bought my new pc a few months ago it has been running 24 hours a day doing the UD cancer project. Now i wonder what is more useful. Keep going with UD...or do WCG? Take care, Eddy |

Now i wonder what is more useful. Keep going with UD...or do WCG? Eddy Hi Eddy, and welcome to the WCG forums! Both projects are useful. There are some minor differences between the two as far as WCG having a slightly newer version, and other things you can find from previous threads such as these: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=925#4053 http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=651#2537 You personally would see a greater gain in your statistics ranking, although I don't know if this is really any more "useful" or not. Users can currently be listed in the top 5000 list (global member statistics) at WCG with less than 50 days accumulated CPU time. At Grid.org, it currently takes over 7 years total CPU time to be listed on the top 5000 list. After about three years crunching at grid.org, and eventually having three computers running 24/7, I managed to get my total points rank to be somewhere around #27,000. Not bad for over a million members, but still pretty far behind in the pack! I was around #7,000 when I signed up for WCG, and am currently ranked #123 in points, and #131 in total CPU time. While I am sure that new power users with a dozen or more machines will eventually bump me out of the top 1000, I get to be the "big fish in a small pond" for a while I assume you are listed on grid.org as tiehuis as well, so I checked your stats there: ======= tiehuis Total CPU Time: 0:157:03:23:00 (# 169,861) Points Generated: 103,022 (# 99,624) Results Returned: 662 (# 96,393) ========= Even as the newest WCG member, you would see a jump of approximately 50,000 in your ranked placement for points! With a new computer, your results and points would likely bring you up in the rankings much faster than you would see at grid.org. WCG is adding about 1000 new members a day, so you will have gotten in on the project very early. Best of luck with whatever you choose! |

I have very strong feelings about grid.org. I quit them and moved here. The reason I did so is discussed HERE. (My UserID on the Forum was RJT76043) I know of others that have left grid.org for this and other issues. By The Way, the members still there tell me that Grid.org still have not responded to this issue in any way.

Since I bought my new pc a few months ago it has been running 24 hours a day doing the UD cancer project. Now i wonder what is more useful. Keep going with UD...or do WCG? Take care, Eddy Heres a couple 3-4 easy answers to that. The Biggest is we need you here. you. The second is this is to help fight cancer, as well as undiscovered uses. We'd love to have you here.
