Hi, thanks Diana. Did a crash course Dutch? Or a nice Bablefish translation (expect the latter because of some funny literal translations, funny to see 'keep it up' translated to 'Houd omhoog het')?
Anyway: thanks for the thumbs up and thanks for the effort! |

Let's not tell Diana that 'Ras' has quite a different meaning.... it would have to be 'Kerst Wedstrijd'

Hahaha Do I want to know?? I went to bablefish and Ras came out race, and 'Kerst Wedstrijd' came out Kerst Race. Wish I had more time to find out the 'different meaning' but me must go to work

Actually it is not that bad: ras means race, but in the meaning of the Caucasian race, the African race, etc. So it is race in the meaning of ethnicity.
----------------------------------------That is the trouble with Bablefish: if a word in the original sentence can have two meanings it is not able to pick up the context and often chooses the wrong one. What is even funnier than a Bablefish translation is a Bablefish translation translated back to the original language by Bablefish. This is your Dutch translated back by Bablefish: Hello DeePeeCee! You do splendid cracking during the race of kerstmis. I look forward to the day you 1st globally seat oneself. Keep omhoog it! Have a ontzagwekkende day! Let's all do spendid cracking and let's seat ourselves globally as high as possible ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by chelloocom.xahmol at Dec 10, 2007 3:11:14 PM] |

I know! I did (as always) run it back through bablefish and I was really laughing. I joked to myself that I must have left out some vowels
