Benchmarks increase after upgrade to 5.10.7

Hi, I just upgrade to 5.10.7 and notice my benchmarks increased.

whetstone marginal increase from 1321 to 1349
dhrystone higher increase from 1550 to 2310

Does this mean my work units will run and complete faster, and how will this affect points?

Also any ideal why a simple upgrade would change my benchmarks as I am still working on the same computer?

Re: Benchmarks increase after upgrade to 5.10.7

Actually nothing increased materially, it was just that the old (5.8) benchmark was instable and only gave correct results on particular C2D's 1:5 - 1:7 tests. That flaw only impacted the integer part, sometimes only reporting 1/2 or 1/3 of the proper value.

You must now be overjoyed, not :?

Added per Kathryn's note below: Not materially meaning like she said about 5%.

Re: Benchmarks increase after upgrade to 5.10.7

The benchmark bug was fixed. Yes.

But Rom is now using Visual Studio 2005 to compile the Windows client. There was a thread over on Trac about it. Seems to give about a 5% increase in benchmarks over previous versions that were complied with VS 2003.
