Overall Performance Score

I have suddenly noticed that my PC's overall score has dropped to 91 crying , used to be about 120ish. Looking through the individual items the processor score is the only one that has changed. I'm now scoring 89 against the comparison device. The processor that I have in my machine is an Intel Celeron running at 2.6 Ghz. Has anyone else had the same issue ?

My other PC (Intel P4HT @ 3 GHz) has not had the same issue

Re: Overall Performance Score

smile Hi Harrid3

The reason this happened is that when you complete a work unit and it is uploaded to the server, your profile is re-assessed and given a fresh score for the current work unit

If your system is sitting idle at this point, you will get a higher profile score than if you were doing something computer intensive like playing a graphics intensive game, as it views this as less cycles available to the current Work Unit

Sounds silly, I know, but thats the way it works unfortunately.
However it does not seem to make a great deal of difference to your points awarded for that work unit

I hope this helps to answer your question

Regards

Re: Overall Performance Score

As Graham points out, there is a little "benchmark" run on your computer as it finishes each Work Unit. If you are doing nothing else on your computer, it will give you a higher score than if you are doing something else...be it playing a game or even email or surfing. So your Processor Score will vary all over the place as time goes by. More info here

If you are interested in looking at the processor scores reported by hundreds of users, you can click on the "Processor Scores" in my signature below. This should give you an idea of the processor score range you can expect from any particular processor.
