smile Having problems getting project from the server. [COMPLETED]

My computer finished a project, sent it to the server and is now hung with the following message trying to download the next project.

Receiving 28787 of 598372 bytes from the server...

I have stopped and started it many times, including rebooting my PC and each time is hangs at a different byte count.

Can someone check the server?

Thanks.
==================
The problem must have been with the internet connection from the hotel I was at. When I connected from the airport, the download went very quick as usual. From the hotel I was able to surf the web, do email, and everything else over the web except for the download. Thanks and Happy Crunching smile

Re: Having problems getting project from the server.

My guess is that you were working on ONLY the HCMD project, which is finished. There is a thread about the finished work in the HCMD project area.

If you are using UD (probably, since that is the only version running this project), select one or more other projects in your profile in the device manager.

(General answer)
If you are using BOINC, either select one or more other projects or check the little box that accepts work from other projects if there is no work in the primary project.

Download of one block only is a bit misleading, but a clue that no work is available.

Windows Server 2003. It has been running fine all day and then started having problems tonight.

Re: Having problems getting project from the server.

My UD client fetched a job 5 hours ago without a hitch. Genome Comparison, which are like 500-700kb each. Any AV or other software updates?

Re: Having problems getting project from the server.

No AV updates. I have retrieved and completed several Genome projects today before this problem occured. It starts retrieving the project and always hangs up after 30K to 40K of download. Right now it is sitting on 41207/618852 bytes.

Has anyone checked the server? In the past when I have experienced this problem the forums have indicated some sort of problem with the server.

Cheers.

Re: Having problems getting project from the server.

I am wondering about the project list. The first list inside my projects in my grid is BOINC projects. It is supposed to override the UD projects but does it? The UD projects are found down in the profile in the device manager. I assume that they are the same. Might they be different?

What happens if you pick another project or two? Can you get some work? HCMD is definitely closed.

It is always possible that work for GC has run out, but I just shifted computers and sent some to the BOINC server. It's a different server, so wouldn't solve the UD problem.

The techs probably won't be around until tomorrow, and I'm heading for bed anyway. Sekerob might catch this in the meantime.

Just 3 hours ago received another GC job, thus wondered if this problem has gone?

If you can confirm, please insert [COMPLETED] in the title of your opening post (little pencil next to title allows editing).

thanks
